Upstate New York residents and communities face many mobility challenges. With restructuring of local economies and health services, many people travel long distances to work and health care. An aging population, particularly the growing number of people in their 80's, increases demand for individualized services. The most prevalent mobility challenge remains creating viable, affordable services for rural residents and under-served communities. Meanwhile, change is everywhere. Smartphone apps empower shared-use mobility services. Older mobility business models are on life support. We need to collaborate to create opportunities for change. In this spirit, three mobility events were developed by the National Center for Mobility Management, Shared Mobility Inc., Tompkins County, Cornell University, Ithaca-Tompkins Transportation Council, and a team of multi-modal mobility partners.

You are invited to the Mobility Solutions Summit, NCMM Design Thinking Workshop and TransportationCamp Ithaca during June 23-25, 2016 in Ithaca, NY.  The goal is to create synergy for creating innovative mobility services. While each event stands alone, they are interrelated. What you learn at the Summit or Design Thinking Workshop (on June 23-24) you can explore further at TransportationCamp (on June 25).

  • June 23-24: Mobility Solutions Summit - Explore new shared-use mobility services and  better practices in mobility systems (pedestrian and bicycling infrastructure, rideshare, volunteer driver, taxis, demand-response, & public transit services); adapting information technologies; and state and local policies supporting mobility innovation.  More info …

  • June 23-24: Design Thinking Workshop - Creating Innovative Solutions for Health Care-Related Transportation - Conducted by the National Center for Mobility Management, in this two-day training, participants will learn how to use a customer-centered innovation process, known as Design Thinking, to design, iterate, test, and deliver responsive mobility solutions to improve health care-related transportation options in their community.  (Participation is limited. There are 28 open slots as of 4/27/16.) More info

  • June 25: TransportationCamp Ithaca @ Cornell University – Do you have creative ideas for how Upstate NY communities can grow and move more sustainabily? We invite mobility operators, planners, software developers, researchers, mobility managers, advocates, community members, entrepreneurs, students and government officials to come to a one-day transportation camp. T-Camp is an unconference. Attendees set the agenda by proposing sessions they’d like to lead. This provides a unique opportunity for you to contribute to and shape the event. We want to hear about what you’re working on. More info …
